WOMEN SKI FOR SCHOLARSHIPSponsored by the Trustees of the Trust Funds and the Tuftonboro Recreation Committee, this will be a timed event over a scenic course of two loops totaling 5 kilometers. (Approximately 3 miles) Participants may choose to do both loops, the first loop being the most difficult, or one loop on the easier trail. Only those skiing or snow-shoeing the full two loops will be timed. PARTICIPANTSAll levels and ages of women skiers are invited to participate with a partner in this timed event. There will be three starts. The shorter loop group will start at 11 AM, the longer loop at 11:10; Snowshoers will start at 11:20 for the long loop. Please note on registration form if you consider yourself a racing skier or snowshoer, or a leisure skier or snowshoer. (top) PARTNERSThis is a PARTNERS event, meaning your finish time will be added to your partner's for your overall placement time. Partners must both ski or snow shoe in the longer loop event to be timed. Individual finish times will be posted along with the partner times. (top) NEED A PARTNER?If you wish to ski and do not have a partner we will match you with someone in the same predicament. The 5K event emphasizes fun rather than competition and we encourage teams to wear costumes. (top) THE STARTTo prevent congestion on the trail, we will start in waves. Each wave will start at 3 minute intervals with the fastest skiers/snowshoers in the earliest waves. We will try to have low bib numbers for the serious racers providing their registration forms are received before January 25th, 2004. (top) COURSE DESCRIPTIONThe trail begins at the Hackl Pond Area. Participants will ski/snowshoe two loops of approximately 2.5K each on classic scenic woods trails. The first loop returns to the pond area where the course crosses a meadow and joins the second loop through woodsy trails, bridges over brooks, along a beaver pond and returns to the pond area to cross the finish line.
